Your Body is a Temple

Don’t you know that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? -1 Corinthians 6:19

In our culture, one of the greatest obsessions is with physical fitness.  The questions is:  Why then are we in the worse shape ever?   With all the nutritional information and exercise apparatus, we should be the fittest people on the planet.  Unfortunately, the opposite is true.

What is the problem?  We have all good intentions, yet we fail over and over again.

Just like every area of your life, the secret to getting fit and healthy lies in the details.  Changing old habits are the hardest things we’ll ever do.  Studies say it take 21 days to form a new habit.  It takes time to create change.  The process is tedious, but the results are well worth the effort.  A sound body can enhance a sound mind as well. We are created mind, body and spirit; let’s do everything we can to keep the house in shape.

Fitness of the soul should take priority over fitness of the body, but the two are not mutually exclusive.  Ask God daily to help you make good choices in food you eat and the strength to stay with an exercise program.  It could be as simple as a 15-30 walk.

  • Focus on where you are going rather than where you are.
  • It’s never to late to make change.
  • You are what you eat.  What you get out of your body relates directly to what you put into it.
  • Do it now
  • If you start your day with the expectation that nothing meaningful will occur, you surely won’t be disappointed.
  • Everyday ask for God’s wisdom and strength to help you win the race.
